Brazil debuted in the Olympic program at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, at the time the country had six athletes representing the country, in Canoeing Speed: Alvaro Acco Koslowski, Jefferson Lacerda in the K2 Men 1000 meters and also in the 500 meters race, Sebastían Cuattrin for the K1 Masculino 1000 meters and in the 500 meter dispute. Athletes got places in the qualifiers, but they didn't go to the finals.
In Canoeing Slalom, three athletes were present: Gustavo Selbach, Leonardo Selbach and Marlon Almiro Grings. Marlon secured the 22nd position by the K1 Male, Gustavo Selbach got a 29th place. Leonardo Selbach for the Men's C1 secured the 23rd position.
