Born in 1957, Fidel Oyiogu studied at the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu between 1980-1985. He is a prolific painter and sculptor and he depicts the female figure a lot in his paintings, capturing them in different positions and styles. He works with bright colours and also represents the "uli" symbols and motifs in some of his paintings.
In this piece, the artist depicts a mother and daughter as they stand with their backs to each other. Their frames are stylized as the neck elongates into a curve while their small heads sit comfortably on this slender neck. Their facial features are pointed and linear. The artist employs the use of bright colours like green, yellow, blue, red, purple and brown in rendering this piece.
