The South-North Coordinating Committee (SNCC) was established in accordance with the principles of Korean reunification, which were agreed by the joint communique of July 4, 1972 between South Korea and North Korea. The SNCC, which consisted of five subcommittees in the areas of politics, economy, military, foreign affairs, and society and culture, was formed to facilitate diverse inter-Korea exchanges and cooperation and to solve problems related to the two Koreas.
