How Far Is Far? In A World Where Moving Has Become More And More Convenient, People Set Out To Pursue Their Dreams And Insist On Leaving Home To Do So And As A Result The Distance Between Ourselves And Those We Love Scattered Around The World Becomes Ever Greater. In Recent Years, Many Unavoidable Natural And Man Made Disasters Have Played Out In Cities Around The World. The Future Is So Unfathomable That Perhaps We Should Take Advantage Of A Time When We Can Still Hear Their Voices And Feel Their Warmth To Leave Some Memento Our Souvenir For Those We Care About.

Wang Ai-Li’s “The Souvenir” Attempts To Take Objects That Speak To Our “Condition” During Our Lifetime, To Be [Presented To Those We Love At Some Point In The Future As A Souvenir. Our Breathing, Heartbeat And The Sound Of Our Voice Are All Stored Here Using A Specially Designed Device, As Remembrances Of The Person We Were, To Be Presented To The Love Of Our Life. These “Conditions” Come From An Intimate Connection To Life And Emotions, Bringing Us Even Closer To Those In Our Hearts. Through These Souvenirs We Feel The Challenge Of Existence As Life And Remembering Those Gone In This Intimate Way Extends Their Living State Without Limit
