This birds-eye view composition depicts the scene at the Oi River crossing. In the lead is a procession of samurai. Porters cross the river carrying people on their shoulders, following behind them is a samurai riding a flatboat and his cargo. On the riverbed porters are assembling cargo, while spear-bearers and archers sit waiting for their turn to cross the river. In the reed-screen covered hut porters take a break.
