Disraeli had sat as MP for Shrewsbury in 1841 as a result of the campaigning of Lady Bradford's brother, the 2nd Lord Forester, and as a result he became a great friend of the Bradfords, visiting Weston Park on many occassions and corresponding extensively with Lady Bradford. He is said to have suggested the building of a Tower on the Knoll in Weston Park as an eye-catcher to the main House
