    reduction. Through the enormous extent of country lying between the Murrumbidgee and Goulburn, we are exposed not only to the hostility of the Aborigines, but to the far more dangerous attacks of Bushrangers, a curse in the Port Phillip Country almost unknown, and if you should remove the protection which has been hitherto afforded us, the consequences must be to us ruinous.
