People' in New Media

This room displays a work made in homage to Lee Ungno’s People series. The piece uses a motion sensor to detect its audience, process them in real time, and depict them onscreen as individual figure in a People painting. The dynamic flow of human figures depicted in the People series is homologous with the connection of humans through online networks. On a network, people exchange knowledge and information, creating new values and progressing the world. By becoming a “human” in People, each member of the audience can experience the painting with a contemporary sensibility and language, and play a role not only in the appreciation of an artwork, but in the creation of it.
