Bolas are used to hunt birds. They consist of stones in leather pouches and connected by leather thongs. They can be found throughout large parts of the Americas and come in different sizes. The ones seen here are form Alaska and used to hunt flying birds, like geese. In South America, larger versions are used to hunt Llama Alpaca and the flightless Nandu.
