Scars gave shape to the monsters that we carry inside us with a great, liberating power. Once you have given these shadows a form, you can look at them and face them, like enemies that become easier to fight and overcome if you know them.
Scars is a visual and therapeutic awareness that transforms what would otherwise be pain and nothing else into something usable. It transforms it into works of art woven with passion, works of art that have a dreamlike quality, and as such, leave a trace on the person looking at them.
My Venus represents the transformation of a huge incomprehension, of an internal debate with life, of a dull pain of which I was pretty much unaware for ages – that became red-hot. But with days, years, decades it showed how rich it was as it planted flowers in me that, despite difficulties, knew how to sprout and seed again.
