During the first months of the Civil War, the Franco´s side held the air hegemony thanks in large part to the aid received from Germany and Italy and their great technical quality. But from October 1936 onwards, Soviet aid to the Republic levelled the contest with the arrival of the Polikarpov I-15 "Chato" and Polikarpov I-16 "Mosca" fighters. These aircraft are depicted in this poster, in which they form the Republican tricolour flag in an upward trajectory. They are observed and supported by the typical allegory of the Second Republic, inspired by the mythological Hispania, a woman with the mural crown and the olive branch.
