The crossing at Imagiri was a sea lane to transverse Lake Hamana by boat between Maihama and Arai stations. The name “Imagiri” (literally “now cut”) came from the fissure that cut through the ground between Lake Hamana and Enshunada in the earthquake of 1498. Women tested their luck by using the inland road as a detour, so that road was called the Princess Highway.
