UN Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjöld today completed a four-day visit to Australia, during which he was occupied with numerous activities. As well as official consultations and functions, these included a 300-mile drive through Australia's highest mountain range, observing projects in the Snowy Mountains scheme for diverting waters for a vast scale hydro-electric and irrigation plan involving the construction of ten dams. He left the Snowy River area by plane for Sydney yesterday morning. This picture shows Mr. Hammarskjöld taking a photograph of the site of the Adaminaby dam, which is now under construction (Note in the lower right corner the earth-moving machines at work some 400 feet below). The dam will be one of the highest earth and rock fill dams in the world; it will check and store the waters of the Eucumbene River, the Snowy River's largest tributary.
