The Maatschappij tot vervaardiging van gasmeters (English: gas meter manufacturing company) of Dordrecht began manufacturing upright vacuum cleaners in 1923. This vacuum cleaner is based on the principle of air displacement. Air is drawn in by a rapidly rotating disc-shaped centrifugal impeller mounted on the shaft of an electric motor. An aluminium tube with nozzle is attached on the suction side. The air sucked through the nozzle, along with the dust and dirt, enters the dust bag before it reaches the motor. The dust bag, impeller, and electric motor are located inside the aluminium enclosure. Mounted to the discharge side (top) are a pressure switch, a lid with outlet slots, and the fork shaped end of the stem.
What stands out is the red, white, and blue placard marked 'Nederlandsch Fabrikaat’ (English: Made in the Netherlands).
