Vant Hayes

Vant Hayes was born in Edmonton, Alberta, on June 22, 1936—the second youngest child of Floyd and Elizabeth Hayes. Hayes’s paternal grandparents were William and Mollie Hayes, and his father, Floyd, was born in Mississippi in 1889. In 1905, the Hayes family moved to Indian Territory in what would later become the state of Oklahoma. His maternal grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. William Murphy. They lived in Chandler, Oklahoma, southwest of Tulsa, where his mother, Elizabeth, was born in 1906.
