From the description of the image, it can be assumed that she is a seller of chicha, an alcoholic drink derived from the distillation of corn and fruits, stored in clay pots. During the viceroyalty until well into the 19th century, Lima had numerous street vendors selling various soft drinks, especially fruit-based ones. The "ante" vendor -mix of wine and other spices- was the chichera's main competitor. Inscription: "Chicha verkaauferin in der Stadt hernmgehend".
It belongs to the album "1871 Praetoria" which contains 39 sheets of which 25 are watercolors and 14 are illuminated lithographs. These images are an example of the nineteenth-century production of pictorial costumbrismo in Peru, a repertoire of typical characters -in this case from the city of Lima-, composed without much context, and rather characterized by their work and clothing.
