As a talisman to protect against evil, this shell was hung from a cord in the doorway of fishermen`s homes. It is thought that perhaps the sharp prongs on the shell would pierce any evil spell trying to enter the house.
Found in Higashimuro-gun,Wakayama Prefecture.
