Vestibule and entrance hall

The entrance hall brings together numerous sculptural works that fit well with the sleek and distinct classical architecture of the porch, vestibule, and stairwell. The columns are made of stucco marble, an imitation of natural marble, which was particularly popular in the Baroque period for use with multi-colored room furnishings and altars. To create this material, stucco aggregates colored with different pigments are kneaded together while still wet to produce a marbled effect. The surfaces created with it are then elaborately ground and polished.
