The headpiece engraving of the publication PROSPECTUS LECTIONUM… (Vilnius, 1781), which contains the description of lectures and the rector’s welcome speech, shows an almost unique view of the buildings of Vilnius University at the end of the 18th century. Abbreviated names of university departments are written on the roofs of the depicted buildings. Some buildings were still in the process of planning to be built at the time of the creation of the image, but already depicted. In the distance one can see the famous objects of Vilnius – the ruins of the Upper Castle situated on the hills, the Three Crosses and Vilnius Cathedral.
