A painting that was executed probably outside Catalonia, attributed to Jean Massys by art historian Giorgio T. Faggin. A recent analysis of the painting by the University of Barcelona has enabled the constituent materials of the work and their distribution to be identified. Comparison of this painting with other works attributed to Massys strengthen this attribution.
Jean Massys (Antwerp, 1509-1575) formed part of an artistic strand located in Antwerp at the beginning of the 16th century, with Flemish influences and details characteristic of Southern Europe (Italy) and the school of Leonardo da Vinci.
