Conceived for the Symposium of Granite Sculpture: «Porto and the Virtudes», while commemorating the 50th anniversary of the artistic cooperative Árvore, the work “In the middle, between this and that” was placed in the Virtudes garden in 2013, together with “Tree of Virtues”, by Vitor Ribeiro, and “Wheel”, by Paulo Neves. Sculpted by Isaque Pinheiro, the piece is composed by two wings bearing a metallic support, which allows the observer to interact with the work, by wearing it. In the words of the artist, this is a “wearable sculpture”. The wings let the user experience the landscape as if in a «recognition flight» over the Douro river, the urban core of the lower city and the bank of Vila Nova de Gaia.
