Lin Chun-ju usually tries to use industrial era waste materials, which she converts into creative elements in the production of her work. This explains her deep interest in environment protection and life related issues. Her collection of soft sculptures are made from needles and thread, wrapped and tied together into the shape of wonderful flowers and strange plants, like those in the children's fairy tale "Alice in Wonderland". In the modern urban jungle these survive by being hardy. Each tentacle grows into a different shape, cylindrical, circular or even tassels, as they make threatening gestures, contending in beauty and fascination. At the roots of these works lie many different sized red cotton balls scattered on the floor, representing seeds. The images of multiplication and rebirth brim with vitality. Behind this scene of the irrepressible force of existence lie the mediations of the artist on life.
