Flounce in Brussels-application needlelace

Flounce with magnificent floral decoration repeated along the belt, and featuring prominently the open and closed bellflowers on the edge, groups of small flowers, stems with leaves, three-lobed leaves, seeds and ribbons that made a highly realistic whole. The patterns include cloth and half stitches, simple and double button stitches and openwork and decoration in festoons and guipure. The top part of the ground in machine-made tulle is covered with dots. The flounce is finely produced and designed, which is a characteristic of Belgian lace; the same is ture of the contrat of light and shade produced by the combination of the bobbin and needlework techniques.
