We feel fine

As you walk up to the second floor, experiences of emotions and sentiments will unfold in front of your eyes.
Jonathan Harris (1979~) integrates computer technology, anthology, visual arts, and story-telling to design, explore, and interpret the system of the human world. “We Feel Fine" website records the temperature of human feelings through large-scale blog analysis to explore the emotions of the global mankind.

“We Feel Fine” collects expressions of human emotions from blog postings since August 2005. The website initiates searches for the newest blog postings in the world that starts from “I feel” or “I sense”. The database has collected several millions of information regarding human emotions, which is still growing with a speed of 15,000 to 200,000 entries per day. It is presented in a series of humorous interfaces to make it friendly to the analysts, who organize the structures according to population, collect information regarding emotions, and search for answers to the following questions: Do Europeans have a higher frequency of feeling sad than the Americans? Do women feel fat more than men? Do rainy days affect our emotions? What emotion best represents the New York City female population in their twenties? How do people in Bagdad (capital of Iraq) feel right now? What do regular Joes feel on Valentine’s Day? Which is the happiest city in the world? Which is the saddest city in the world?

The information interface appears in color dots. Each dot represents an emotion released by someone, and the colors, sizes, shapes, and transparency reflect the essence of the emotions. Click on a dot; you will see a complete sentence and a photo. The dots move randomly on the screen and you can request it to line up in lines of six categories: madness, murmurs, montage, mobs, metrics, and mounds. We Feel Fine is an art of group creation, so it changes as people grow and change. It is a website that reflects the inner thoughts of people and aimed to draw the distances in the world closer one another, as well as shows us the beauty in the ups and downs of life.
