In the corner of the bustling Taipei East Area sits an abandoned house. The plaster and paint of the walls peel back, exposing concrete and pipelines, and constitute a unique space of its own, as if the entire house has been lost in time. Yet abundant foliage intertwining with small animal figurines reveals an ongoing interaction between life and time.
“The issue of survival is a tough one for all living things. In addition to caring for others, we also need to have faith in the future,” Hsin-Yu Huang says. She has planted pieces of greenery – symbols of hope – into the animal figurines. The artist has created, in this motionless space, a Utopia where creatures coexist in harmony
