As said by Paola Goretti during the anthological show organized in 2013 at Palazzo Venezia in Rome, the head constitutes a preparation study for the realization of the full body sculpture of “The Pregnant Woman” (ACO009), created a year later: the proportions, the physiognomy, the rigid frontal position and the chronologic coincidence don’t leave any doubts about the correlation of this artwork and the pregnant woman’s sculpture which has been exposed at the second national Quadriennale of art of Rome in 1935.
The austerity and magnificence of the final artwork are already concentrated in the expression of this visage, from the physiognomic details which tend to a geometrical simplification of the plans, as in the straight nose and the perfectly defined eyebrows which draw its ideal prosecution.
