In November 1934 the Western Australian women's State team played the first England women's cricket team to tour Australia on 24 & 26 November 1934 at the WACA Ground. This was pomoted as the world's first women's international cricket match. The tour stimulated interest in women's cricket, having an effect of giving women's cricket a greater profile and acceptability as a game suitable for women.
