In this work of 1873, Jan Hendrick Weissenbruch painted a fairly precise picture of the landscape. Later, in common with other artists of the Hague School, he would mainly capture the atmosphere of the landscape, with an eye for the changing weather and all possible nuances of grey and green. This landscape was painted near Schiedam.
