Drawing inspiration from his experiences in Papua New Guinea in the late 1980s as a Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer (JOCV) for the fine arts, Hiroshi Fuji is an artist who is very active at exhibitions and art projects both in Japan and abroad. This work was created based on anecdotes collected from descendants of Japanese emigrant and others in Central and South America involving plants and animals found at the destinations of Japanese emigrants. This is a participatory work created based on the theme of communication, in which plants and animals inhabiting those regions are regarded as messengers conveying messages from people to the visitors of the museum. The visitors are to receive those messages and then leave their own messages for the people of the future.
