JICA Yokohama (Japan International Cooperation Agency Yokohama Center) was established in Yokohama’s Minato Mirai 21 district in 2002 to serve as a hub connecting the people of Kanagawa and Yamanashi prefectures with the world at large. It engages in a wide variety of activities including receiving trainees (incl. Young Leaders) from developing countries, citizen participation cooperation programs, support programs for descendants of Japanese emigrants (Nikkei) migrants and Japanese-descended people, SME support and private sector collaboration programs, and volunteer programs. In the jointly established Japanese Overseas Migration Museum, we display records of the history of Japanese overseas migration and migrants, and we aim to promote widespread knowledge of the Japanese migrants who were, so to speak, the forerunners of international cooperation.
