The woman has a fan in her right hand on which the moon and little cuckoos are depicted. This depicts a scene where a cat is playing around the bottom of a woman’s kimono. It represents the scene of “Wakana, Volume one” from The Tale of Genji where a pet cat of the Third Princess batted the bamboo blinds, and Kashiwagi who saw the beautiful princess, suddenly fell in love with her.
