House of Freedom Project

The House of Freedom Project began in May of 2011, and is a continuation of The Big Cradle in 2009 and The Big Onion in 2010. The cabin, modeled after traditional pigeon houses made by experienced craftsmen in Tainan, is divided into two parts. Wheels are appended to it, allowing the cabin to move to different locations within the city, thus making it truly free. At the same time, this is a pigeon house without any pigeons, as if the birds had flown away and gained their freedom. This is another meaning behind the work’s name.
The House of Freedom is a portable piece of architecture that aims to connect different people through travel and activities in its interior. This time, the travelling cabin will attend Very Fun Park. Stationed at the Taipei New Horizon building, sounds collected and created by musician Yu-Jun Wang liven up the scene; it is as if the cabin is breathing, making the structure come alive.
