In this painting, men enjoy chatting with each other around red tables. Around them are women and children who serve and make preparations. The scene was painted on extremely expensive "nume" silk, renowned for a unique gloss, and a large amount of expensive vermilion paint was used to color the tables and other objects. Soliciting funds on their own, Buson's supporters established a group known as the Byobuko to commission him to create the folding screens.
