Wind furnace for tea ceremony, Kamachi ware

Kamachi ware were ceramics from the Yanagawa domain, which produced excellent tea utensils in its official kiln.
This unglazed wind furnace is in the chamfered doan-buro style and is supported with three feet. The white patchy pattern shown along the mouth and fire window is a feature of the Kamachi ware. It has two attachments: a trivet and a white mae-kawarake (a piece of earthen ware for stopping sparks from shooting out). Under the fire window, it reads: “九州土器之司” (the master of earthen ware in Kyushu) and “方悦” (Hoetsu).
