Our mission
GSOplay’s goal is to offer classical music enthusiasts around the world the opportunity to experience the world of the Gothenburg Symphony. Through our extensive series of interviews and behind the scenes material, GSOplay’s audience has the opportunity to get to know our conductors, soloists, and orchestra in a unique and intimate way.
The technology
The sound recording is made with the classic Decca tree with three microphones in a T-shape above the conductor. Of course, sometimes we put some extra microphones on certain instruments or soloists, but the base is always the Decca rig. The processing of the signal and the sound design is made by Lars Nilsson at Nilento Studios.
The GSOPlay studio
The 9 robotic cameras are controlled from the studio, managed by the Producer Måns Pär Fogelberg. In the team there are two camera operators and one person reading the scores during the recording. We send live 4-5 times per year and the concerts are available for VOD 30 days after the recordings.
