Tripura bamboo products, including basketry, is so widely used in daily life that the local population is its largest customer and consumer. From homes to bridges, fishing rods and multiple types of basketry that can create tiny tea strainers and large fish traps, all produce was for local utility. The state has only recently begun to reach out to the larger world to put its bamboo out to faraway markets.

With the arrival of the digital revolution and online marketing, the state government, and small enterprise and NGOs, have started marketing bamboo products from the state, providing access to customers who can order bamboo ware at the click of a key on their computers. The state government emporium stocks more artistically designed goods for the middle class for home décor and the more highly skilled artisans provide their masterpieces for display and sale here in the capital city of Agartala.
