Art Aia - La Dolce Berlin and the independent art scene

Since the fall of the Berlin wall, Berlin has attracted some of the best, most progressive artistic talent and the area of Wedding is a home to a vibrant artists' community.

Art Aia - La Dolce Berlin is located in an old Spätkauf or Späti, a type of convenience shop found in particularly in Berlin, which is known to operate late at night. Translating literally to 'late purchase', spätkauf mostly sell alcohol and tobacco but may also sell groceries or everyday items. As a part of neighborhood culture, they usually feature small benches for clients to sit on while enjoying their purchase and meet with neighbors. This concept has been translated by Art Aia - La Dolce Berlin for art and culture as well as good wine which is available during the events.

A Pop-up gallery space where multidisciplinary artists  can create their own temporary exhibition together with artists talks and excellent refreshments. Artists coming from outside Berlin can stay in the guest room while working on opening their shows .Photo credit : Stefanie Ren

Ted Titus’s highly stylized work centering on the individuals inevitable trading of personal agency for connection. 

Annelisa graduated with distinction from Yale's undergraduate art program in 2016. She is inspired by nature, politics, and travel; she has spent the last year working online in order to travel and paint throughout India, Nepal, and Southeast Asia.  

"Parachuters" is a unique artist book, hand drawn in graphite. Two skydivers harnessed together lose their sole parachute. They plummet towards the Earth. This narrative explores their relationship as it plays out, unravels or consolidates in these few seconds.Themes of plurality, duality and unity play out in a backdrop of relativism.

Fairy tale is composed by four parts with a subject in common. All the characters are watching the spectator with a sense of suspicious. The artwork narrates one story with irony and humor. The images and the composition of the piece bring also an element of poetry to the artwork. - Ali Labgaa

I’m inspired by the people around me and the places I go, my ideas are just a regurgitation of my experiences but in a distorted way. I’m simply trying to turn myself inside out.
