A MONUMENT STADIUM
In the 1930s, football already fascinated crowds of supporters. During this decade, São Paulo realized that it needed a monumental stadium, with enough space for the public of this spectacle. After the donation of a 75 thousand square meters by Cia City, the buidilng of the City Stadium started in 1936 and lasted for for years, employing over a thousand workers.

THE OPENNING
Over 50 thousand people attended Pacaembu openning, in April 27, 1940. 10 thousand athletes from different states and countries participated on the parade on the new lawn. The train fares were reduced at the day of the event to stimulate the coming of the crowd.

FINALLY, FOOTBALL
The first kick at Pacaembu field was in April 28, 1940. Double round. The Palestra Italica defeated the Curitiba for 6 to 2 and the Corinthians, champion of 1939, beated the Atlético-MG for 4 to 2.
FOOTBALL ON THE SHELVES
Chocolate and cereal boxes, drink cans... from time to time, football invade products packages. And it is a very old phenomenon. In this collection, with objects from the 1920s, you can see matches and cigarettes boxes adorned with clubs and stars.
SUDAN CIGARETTE FACTORY
Brazilian's major cigarette factory at the 1930s-1930s, Sudan, was established in Jundiaí-SP. It scored a goal with its cover boy: Leônidas da Silva, 1938's World Cup hero. Before he appeared at Sudan's boxes, he had won with 300 thousand votes the Magnolia cigar's contest.

When he first arrived to São Paulo Football Club, in 1942, Leônias da Silva was discredit... but, his debut against Corinthians, was a public record at Pacaembu, 17.281 supporters. With the income, São Paulo recovered the money invested in the purchase of the player.

FROM LAWN TO PAPER

HAIL THE XXV DE JANEIRO
The metallurgist João Baptista dos Santos dedicated the "Nosso Jornal" to the XXV de janeiro, an amateur club that played in the Perdizes neighbourhood, São Paulo, between 1956 and 1984.

The 376 editions published between 1961 and 1981 were handmaid with a peculiar caligraphy and collage. "Nosso Jornal" reported the events of the neighbourhood and the club.

The 220 editions that João Batista donates to Museu do Futebol were cleaned and digitalized. They are available to consulting at the Museum's book and media library.
Stickers in Brazil
The first sport sticker collection in Brazil was created in 1919 by the Balas Sport candies. Produced by Grecchi & Cia, a candy factory in São Paulo, they brought in their collection Amílcar Barbuy, Corinthians and National Team player who won the South-American championship in the same year.

FOOTBALL CANDIES
In 1938, the Americana candy factory release "Balas Futebol", the first stickers collection to be part of an album. It was on sale until 1960, with novelties like prizes and stamped stickers.
ILLUSTRATION PROS
The Balas Futebol had exquisite illustrations drawn by artists Nino Borges, between 1944 and 1949, and Miécio Caffé, between 1950 and 1960. The drawgins gave birth to the mascot Futebolino, who was in the covers since 1942.
FOLLOWING A CANDY TRAIL
During the 1940s and 1950s, other albums were launched, like Balas Centroavante, Balas Federação and Balas Centro-Goal. Besides the prizes, the collections also included, little by little, clubs from Rio de Janeiro and Rio Grande do Sul.
MARCOS CARNEIRO DE MENDONÇA
One of the first idols of Brazilian football, goalkeeper of Fluminense, Marcos was the first goalkeeper of Brazil's National Team and played in its first conquest, the South-American Championship of 1919.

With a refined technique and aristocratic manners, the goalkeeper draw the gaze of the press. He had collected clippings, photos and game reports that he wrote by himself.

In a couple of two big notebooks of kraft paper, the goalkeeper kept clippings, letters, photos, postcards and notes.
Marcos Carneiro de Mendonça's albums are stored at the National Library and are considered, in the words of Mario Filho, "the most complete repository of football events from 1910 to 1919".
FOOTBALL ENCYCLOPEDIA
Due to his giant repertoire of skill moves and techniques, Nilton Santos got the nickname "The Encylopedia". The greatest left full-back of all times was also a renown storyteller. In 1998 he published his autobiography, "Minha bola, minha vida".

SANTA MARINA ATLÉTICO CLUBE
Amateur blue collar club , founded in 1913 by workers of the old Companhia Vidraria Santa Marina.
Located in Água Branca neighbourhood, west area of São Paulo. The club possess a remarkable museum in its headquarters, with photos, trophies and relics.

ASSOCIAÇÃO ATLÉTICA AÇUCENA
Founded in 1924, in Limão neighbourhood, in became one of the most respected amateur clubs in São Paulo.
Until its demise, in the 1970s, the club was called by its west area rivals, Santa Marina and Lapeaninho, by nicknames such as "The record breaker" and "The almost insurmountable".
THE BIGGEST STADIUM FO THE WORLD
Opened in June 16, 1950, with the purpose of hosting the fourth edition of the Football World Cup, the Rio de Janeiro City Stadium was built in only 22 months, employing over ten thousand workers. The first match was between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, and Didi, creator of the "dry leaf" effect kick, scored one of the three goals of Rio's victory for 3 - 1.

According to newspapers of the time, if the cement bags used to build Maracanã were pilled, they would be as twice as high as Sugar Loaf hill. No wonder, the hill and Maracanã are still symbols of Rio. And, regardless their geographical distance, they are placed together at postcards and posters back in the time of the Openning.
AUTOGRAPHS
While the National Team was getting ready to 1958's Cup, in Poços de Caldas (MG), the eleven years old Marcos Nastrini collected in his small notebook autographs of the team that would become winner, with Pelé still signing "Edson Arantes". The autograph order: Dida, Pampolini, Dino Sani, Carlos de Castro Borges (Cacá), Carlos Alberto Cavalheiro, Gilmar, Pelé, Mário Américo (masseur), Zito, Gino Orlando, Zagallo, Altair, Didi, Evaristo de Macedo, De Sordi, Vavá, Mazzola, Jadir, Djalma Santos, Oreco, Formiga, Canhoteiro, Zózimo, Moacir, Castilho, Almir Pernambuquinho, Joel e Zizinho.

the visual comunication and typos of 1970s Cup poster are the same as the Olympic Games of 1968, also hosted by Mexico.
This poster was signed by 22 Brazilian players summoned to that tournament.
