The Spanish Federation of Associations of Friends of the St. James Way (Camino de Santiago) is formed of a significant group of associations from almost every Autonomous Community in Spain.
The Federation and the Associations of Friends of the Camino de Santiago are non-profit organization. They work extremely hard on private initiatives relating to the restoration of the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, and the Camino de Santiago's multiple routes across Spain. The Federation's aims and activities are:
• Providing information and support to pilgrims.
• Creating volunteer host roles.
• Organizing and managing volunteer hosts.
• Helping and working with organizations.
• Organizing, administering, and managing facilities.
• Restoring the Camino de Santiago's different routes.
• Organizing and managing voluntary staff.
• Engaging with bodies and organizations.
• Studies, research, and historical and cultural publications relating to the Camino and its surroundings.
• Promoting all types of cultural activity.
• Relationships with individuals, organizations, and bodies, at both national and regional levels.
• Working in partnership with civil and ecclesiastical bodies.
• Publishing works on any topic and in any type of media relating to the Camino de Santiago.
• Publishing the Revista Peregrino (Pilgrim Magazine) since 1987.
• Working in partnership with Spain's National Geographical Institute (Instituto Geográfico Nacional).
