Founded in 1921, Folha de S.Paulo is the most influential of the national general interest daily newspapers. Its growth was based on the four foundations of the Folha Project: pluralism, non-partisanship, critical journalism and independence.
It was the first media outlet in Brazil to adopt the ombudsman figure, who analyzes the quality of the newspaper with the support of readers. It was also the first in the country to have a real-time news website.
