The Energy and Sanitation Foundation

The Energy and Sanitation Foundation
Brazil

Created in 1998, the Energy and Sanitation Foundation researches, preserves and divulges the historical and cultural patrimony of the energy and environmental sanitation sectors. Acting in several regions in the state of São Paulo through the Energy Museum Network (São Paulo, Itu and Salesópolis) and the Research and Documentation Center, located in Jundiaí, the foundation promotes cultural and educational actions that reinforce citizenship concepts and encourage the responsible use of natural resources, operating from historical, scientific, technological and environmental perspectives.

The Foundation’s collection include more than 1,600 linear meters of technical and management documents, 260 thousand photographic documents, around 3,500 museum objects, 50 thousand titles in the library, besides cartographic, audiovisual and sonorous documents, collected since the mid-19th century.

The Foundation also hosts a rich architectonic and environmental patrimony, which include four small hydroelectric headquarters (PCHs); Park-Stations in Salesópolis, Rio Claro, Brotas and Santa Rita do Passa Quatro, some of which keep remaining Atlantic Forest areas; and two urban premises in Itu and Jundiaí. The collection can subsidize research projects on energy and sanitation, as well as on other themes related to urbanization and industrialization processes in Brazil.
