The ICA Foundation was created in 1986 to contribute to society in technical aspects of dissemination and conservation related to engineering, one year after the 1985 earthquake. In addition to promoting inter-institutional and academic links with universities, technological institutes, institutes and companies related to the development of infrastructure at national and international level, the Foundation safeguards the historical heritage made up of six Funds: ICA Collection, Videographic, Cinematographic, Microfiche, Bibliographic and Aerial Photographic. The latter is made up of approximately one million analog items (oblique and vertical) whose exceptional value and unique testimony has been recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) by granting it two Registers of the Memory of the World Program: the National (2013) and the Regional for Latin America and the Caribbean (2014), whose purpose is to preserve the documentary heritage of the world housed in libraries, archives and museums, as a symbol of the collective memory of humanity.
