Museum of the Fairs Foundation - Simón Ruiz Archive
Medina del Campo, Spain

The Museum of the Fairs aims to reflect the importance that commercial activities have had and still have in the progress of the economy, culture and art. Its exhibition theme is the world of the international fairs held in Medina del Campo during the 15th, 16th and part of the 17th centuries, explained in three main chapters: "The merchandise fairs", "Fairs and finance", and "Simón Ruiz: merchant, banker and founder". Its permanent collection is made up of an extraordinary collection of works of art, historical objects and mercantile and financial documents, all of them originals from that period, including pieces by great authors such as: Egas Cueman, Adriaen Isenbrandt, Marcellus Coffermans, Rembrandt van Rijn, Juan de Juni, Juan Pantoja de la Cruz, Francisco Rincón, Pedro de la Cuadra, etc.

In addition to the museum, the Museum of the Fairs Foundation manages various documentary and graphic collections, including the Simón Ruiz Archive - the only preserved case of a private commercial archive in 16th century Spain - and the historical collection of the Municipal Archive of Medina del Campo. Its Board of Trustees is made up of Town Council of Medina del Campo, Diputación de Valladolid, Junta de Castilla y León and University of Valladolid.
