The Iyá Davina Memorial Museum was created in 1997 by Mãe Meninazinha de Oxum, in honor of Iyá Davina de Omolu, a priestess who played a fundamental role in the formation of candomblé in Rio de Janeiro. The museum brings together a collection of sacred and everyday objects, photographs, and documents kept by the matriarch, and is also an important ethnographic collection for research and preservation of the memory of the peoples of African origin.
