The National Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Umjetnička galerija Bosne i Hercegovine) established on October 11, 1946 is the oldest and the most important art museum in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Today it researches and cares for over 6000 works of modern and contemporary art. The collection of the National Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina is divided into several sub-collections (the collection of Bosnian-Herzegovinian art, the collection of Ferdinand Hodler’s works, the collection of icons, the collection of Yugoslav art, the collection of international works donated to the Gallery, the collection of photographs and the archive of “NADA”, fine arts magazine). The Gallery also houses Documentation and Library Department which enables thorough research to be carried out on variety of art topics, within the premises.
