In season 2019/2020, Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) celebrates its sixtieth birthday. For the company, this is the ultimate moment to reflect on its modest beginnings, rich past, and impressive present and future.
To illustrate this season, Sol León and Paul Lightfoot were inspired by Albertus Seba’s book "Cabinet of Natural Curiosities” from 1734. A pioneering painted thesaurus of shells, plants, insects, reptiles, flowers, and butterflies from all over the world.
For this special occasion, NDT brings together its own collection. A collection of photographs, videos, posters, and playbills of over six hundred ballets that have been presented in the past sixty years. Together with several digital exhibits, they present an insight in our very own 'Company of Curiosities'.
This project is made possible in part by the generous support of the Dioraphte Foundation and the VandenEnde Foundation.
We did our utmost best to trace and gain permission from all right holders with regard to the photos and videos exhibited on this platform. Anyone who thinks his/her materials has been used without prior consent is requested to contact us.
