The Chinese University of Hong Kong Library is a leading research library in Asia. It houses extensive collection to support research, learning and teaching. With generous donations from the public and foresight of our predecessors, the Special Collections of the Library have grown significantly over the years. The valuable items from the Library’s collections including Chinese and Western rare books span over 3500 years of time. Among these treasures are oracle bones from the Shang dynasty (c. 1675-1029 BC), rare books published in or after the thirteenth century, twentieth-century publications, calligraphy and paintings, manuscripts and letter of renowned scholars of the Qing and modern eras. These treasures are of great research value. They also show how wisdom and knowledge have been accumulated and passed on through the devotion of many throughout the generations.
