Established in 2002 to commemorate the 120th anniversary of Komazawa University founding, The Museum of Zen Culture and History offers a panoramic overview of Zen culture and history, especially focusing on Japanese Soto Zen, which is Komazawa University's philosophy of establishment.
It is located in a western-style building at the campus, influenced by Frank Lroyd Wright's style, and was built as a library in 1928.
For its historical significance, the building was designated as a Historical Building by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in1999.
