The Zeppelin Museum is special: it houses the most extensive collection in the world on the history of airship construction. Together with the LZ Archive, it represents a competency centre for the history of German airship travel. At the same time, the museum is dedicated to art of the region surrounding Lake Constance and owns valuable artistic inventory, such as the Otto Dix collection. The history of the modern Zeppelin Museum reaches back to the 19th century.
