The Book of Honor

World leaders visiting the Palace

Milan and Italy welcome the world

The mere numbers of the Italian Pavilion witness its success: 266 high ranking Italian and foreign dignitaries visited Palazzo Italia; over 2 million people saw the “House of Italian Identity” exhibition; over 14 million people watched the Tree of Life shows and the Italian excellences of the Cardo.

The Italy Pavilion, through “Vivaio Scuola”, or School Nursery, contributed greatly to making this Expo a key educational moment in our country’s history. Over the 184 days of the event, Palazzo Italia welcomed 15 thousand students, 2 thousand teachers and 700 schools, part of which were international. This incredible amount of work will all become part of an e-book to be sent to all Italian educational institutions.

The events at the Italy Pavilion were another record setting feature.

Over 4,000 meetings and conferences were organised during the six months of the Expo. The events touched on nearly every aspect of food and sustainability, forming a basis for reflection about the future development of the planet.

Perhaps the most notable, especially on the scientific front, was “Vivaio Ricerca”, or Research Nursery, a schedule of 47 events run by the Italy Pavilion in collaboration with the National Research Council (CNR) and the Conference of Italian University Rectors (CRUI).

The Italy Pavilion was able to create an innovative and efficient model for business opportunities that took place over these 6 months: 16,000 B2B meetings, 50 business forums, 400 industry specific round table discussions in collaboration with the Milan Chamber of Commerce, and over 2,750 Italian and foreign companies enrolled in the Expo Business Matching (EBM) platform, created to encourage business relations with other countries.
